Let’s learn to cook it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Danfe Dagadi Poha, washed and drained
  • 1/2 cup cooked Danfe kabuli chana
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped green chili
  • 1/2 cup peas 
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Lemon wedges (optional)

Instructions:

  • Rinse the poha under running water until it becomes soft. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add the curry leaves, mustard seeds, and asafoetida. Once they splutter, add chopped onions, and green chili, and sauté until onions are translucent.
  • Mix in peas and turmeric powder.
  • Add cooked kabuli chana to the pan, followed by the washed poha. Gently toss to combine, ensuring the poha is well-coated with the spices.
  • Season with salt and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Mix well.

  • 1 cup cracked wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup yellow moong dal
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  • Wash and drain the cracked wheat flour and yellow moong dal
  • In a pressure cooker, combine the cracked wheat, yellow moong dal, and 4 cups of water. Cook until one whistle. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
  • In a separate pan, heat ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Mix in chopped tomatoes, mixed vegetables, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the sautéed vegetables to the cooked cracked wheat and lentils. Mix well, ensuring a uniform consistency. Add salt to taste.
  • Allow the khichdi to simmer on low heat for a few minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
